Like the sun and the moon, life and death are complementary opposites, which do not exist without each other, that sustain equilibrium and together define a "whole". In the reflex of this duality comes the Serip’s Dandelion collection, that through its pieces reveals a darker and more abrupt side at the same time that is subtle and graceful.
The inspiration for new Serip collections has always been based on the language of nature phenomena. The concept of the Dandelion collection is based on the image of the dandelion, a plant that has a rare life cycle with various transformations, starting in the soil, growing, blossoming into a bright yellow flower, later taking the form of a small white ball filled with small seeds that with the breath of the wind become detached and when they reach the ground, give rise to other dandelions. This evolutionary capacity is surprising, it itself gives life to other plants. This was one of the reasons that aroused my interest and curiosity and, consequently, served as inspiration for the beginning of my creative process.
The dandelion means the capacity of transformation and evolution through its life cycle full of multiple phases, all of equal importance, which lead to new beginnigs, new lives. From this is possible to conclude that each end is a new beginning, that death and life complement each other.
Through the creation of this collection, while diving into its concept, the notion of freedom also emerged: the dandelion is a plant that is born from the soil, begins its life in the earth and ends it flying freely. Its challenging and at the same time interesting the panoply of symbolisms that we found when analysing this living being.
The creation of new lives, new beginning, the idea of change, new opportunities… The importance of the life cycle, of passing through and overcoming the various stages inherent in it so that is possible to fly and embark in new opportunities. It’s natural that the human beings try to resist change, however we must understand that life is made of cycles that are essencial for our evolution: the end of some are the beginning of others. Just like the dandelion, the secret lies in letting ourselves go with the flow of life, embracing the unknown and believing in the possibility of a new beginnning. Life is a journey.
Sure it has. The fact that this collection has multiple phases fits perfectly with Serip’s own identity, which has gone through several moments during its history, and which is currently in a special stage of its journey.
The new beginning phase, when the wind carries its seeds, they hit the ground and give birth to new lives.
Serip is precisely in a new beginning, a renewal of its identity, a rebirth based on the blossoming of the 3rd generation of the brand. So much so that the launch of this new collection goes along not only by a rebrand, but also by the introduction of new elements.
The aim was to arouse different sensations through different readings. Depending on the perspective and exploration of the collection, people will be able to feel dual sensations through the pieces that reveal a darker and more abrupt side at the same time as subtle and graceful. They are opposites that complement each other, the balance of the best of both worlds, just like the sun and the moon, life and death, the various phases of life - positive or negative, they don't exist without each other and together they represent a "whole".
